Picasso

Chambray shirt: J.Crew, Plaid shirt: Asos, Jeans: 7 for all Mankind, Bag: bought in Italy, Necklace: vintage, Bracelet: Gold & Citrus, Shoes: ALDO

This weekend was a museum weekend. We finally got to see the Picasso exhibit at the De Young here in SF thanks to a good friend who works there and got us tickets!

To be honest, there are a lot of Picasso pieces that I could do without. But there are some that just suck me in. Like the one below, “Painter with palette and easel”. This piece is large enough that when you stand in front of it, it engulfs your view. Staring at it long enough I found myself flipping the face from dark to light, from good to evil. Then I started to wonder why the painter’s body is made up of bars… almost like a jail. Does the painter feel constrained? For so many simple lines and shapes, it really is quite complex.

I personally haven’t painted in a while, but I love the chance to let myself be sucked in to another artist’s piece, and pretend that I’m them for a moment.

Blue

This was a busy busy week. With happy hours and meals out, I find myself cooking less and less. It’s interesting how quickly things can change.

I was also trying to soak up all of the amazing weather that we had this week. As you can see from these photos, I was wearing a sleeveless top at night! No jacket! And I wasn’t cold!! Clearly, I’m amazed.

September Birchbox

Resilient blinc mascara, Girly Harvery Prince perfume, Adventurous Incoco nail polish applique, Practical Jouer Lip enhancer, Lash card, and Birchbox friendship bracelet

This month’s birchbox was exciting because I got to try out some crazy nail applique. But although fun, I didn’t get it on perfectly and it almost immediately chipped. Still, was fun and great not to have to wait for my nails to dry. I’m also really enjoying the Jouer lip enhancer. It’s like a gloss and a chapstick all in one.

I found the mascara to be really wet when going on, but to not run. I’ll have to try it more to know if I really like it.. I’m on the fence. I do however love the smell of the perfume. It’s fresh and light with citrus and jasmine.

Victoria, Canada

Here are my last photos from our trip… This lady’s all blue look caught my eye.

The warmest weather of our trip… only two layers! haha. We also visited Craigdarroch Castle… these were some of my favorite details:

Shirts: J.Crew, Pants: True Religion, Shoes: Steve by Steve Madden, Hat: Nordstrom, Watch: Michael Kors

I can’t lie, the top photos are not from the same day as the bottom ones. The bottom photos are from Tracy Arm Fjord. It was mystical, and beautiful, but freeeezing and wet. So naturally, I was wearing like five jackets. Ok, maybe not. But still.

Skagway, AK/ Carcross, Canada

Did I wear my fur vest every day that I was in Alaska? Yes, yes I did. And did I snatch up that Husky puppy as soon as I saw it? ‘You betcha’.

O.M.G

Last but not least, some Canadian scenery for you.

Juneau, AK

Have you ever seen a glacier? This was my first time, and it was breathtaking. The scale of it alone makes it amazing, but with bits of bright blue, and wedged between mountains just as beautiful, it’s a pretty incredible thing to see.

Fur vest: BB Dakota, Pants: Topshop, Sweatshirt: J.Crew, Scarf: Nordstrom

After having a tour of the glacier, and salmon hatchery, we then went on a whale watch. We were really lucky on the whale watch for a couple of reasons. First, the sun was shining… which we were told is a rarity in Alaska. We were also able to take the tour with only two other people besides our group of five, so it was almost like a private tour! The picture above is of an Orca whale.

And then this one is the tail of a humpback!

Juneau was a great day… We are actually now back in SF, but I have lots more Alaska pics to post later this week!
